about this work
Moris' work revolves around themes that address representation, social and subjective agency, urban issues and marginal cultures within the context of uneven relations of power and access to basic services, taken for granted in mainstream society.

"Informed by my constant field work, the issues I research have been an intrinsic part of my daily life since childhood, they have been pertinent to both my personal and professional formation. I do not seek themes or devise artistic experimentation from the comfort of a studio. Rather, the street and social space in general is my laboratory for investigating issues, gathering data, & analyzing visual cultures. I observed and learned the diverse social codes of this urban underclass and underworld; their spoken dialects and semiotics; their strategies of survival; and the use of an aesthetics in the décor and beautification of their abodes and environments in order to make them more humane and a place of dignity."
