about this work
A bundle of more than 1000 microphones hangs from the ceiling like a bunch of ripe grapes. Shilpa Gupta has rewired the microphones to create loudspeakers that play a multi-channel sound and speech composition. The text picks up on the visual impression of heaviness. I keep falling at you deals with opposites: with endless falling, with burial, being buried and disappearing.

I keep falling at you
But I keep falling at you (chorus, repeat)
Your garden is growing on me
I will take it away with me
To a land which you can mark no more
Where distances don’t grow anymore
I keep falling at you
But I keep falling at you (chorus, repeat)

"The piece is a symptom of our media age: A dark cloud if microphones like angry bees, which follows public figures from politicians to actors every minute and penetrate every privacy. This cloud of media can elevate a person or destroy a person. Therefore the work by Gupta is extremely poetical and critical at the same time, a paradox, which is only possible by the great dignity of an art work." (Prof. Peter Weibel, 2013)
