Ji, Yu b.1985 / Tiny Figure - Female
about this work
For Yu Ji, the body is an important yet obscure part of her work. In her artworks, Yu Ji deliberately downplays the physical traits of the body. She does not focus on physical details nor does she aim for preciseness in human anatomy. Rather, she explores the energy of the body with more general language, concentrating on the basis or the essence. To the artist, to create is both physical labor and also a kind of exploration. More importantly, making art gives Yu Ji the personal feeling of being "in one's skin".
