Nicolas Paris (b.1977, Colombia)

Nicolás Paris was born in 1977 in Bogotá, Colombia, where he continues to live and work. Academically trained in architecture, Paris was a primary school teacher in Meta, Colombia, before pursuing a career as an artist. Paris’s work often draws on pedagogical strategy to incorporate elements of collaboration, dialogue, and exchange in his work, which is oriented around interests in architecture as a model, education as a system, and drawing as a tool. Paris has exhibited individually in Mexico, Colombia, Spain and Brazil. Recent group exhibitions include: “Model Kits,” Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla and Léon, Spain (2010); “A Terrible Beauty is Born”, 11th Lyon Biennial, France (2011); “The Peripatetic School,” the Drawing Room, London, England (2011); and “Illuminations,” 54th Venice Biennial, Italy (2011); ¨The Ungovernables¨, Second New Museum Triennial, New York, USA (2012) and ¨The Imminence of the Poetics¨ 30th São Paulo Biennale, Brazil (2012).
