Residency Party

06.07.2016

In honor of our resident artists, Moris (Israel Meza Moreno) from Mexico and Winner Jumalon from the Philippines, on White Night Tel-Aviv (June 30, 2016) we held a sunset drinks reception at the waterfront residency in Jaffa. The house was packed with atmosphere with many artists, collectors, curators, journalists, friends, gallery owners and directors, as well as representatives from the Philippine Embassy in Israel, all joining us to preview the artist’s work and drink to some farewells and welcomes to new team members.

The artists enjoyed providing guests a sneak peak of their work in progress; an intriguing assortment of ready-made installations and collages of recycled materials by Moris, and large-scaled figurative oil-paintings by Winner Jumalon. "It was a good experience," recounts Moris, "I liked the informal setting, and how guests wandered freely around the work, and even stood on top of one of my collages in order to see an installation hanging on the wall. I am excited to see them again in the final exhibition and hear their thoughts."

The evening set the tone for this exciting summer residency, for the first time bringing two artists to work in parallel, bringing together diverse nationalities, cultures and styles that enhance the experience of each and drive creativity and dialogue.

Many local artists, most of which are part of the START collection, were exposed to the international artists' work process, and the latter got a chance to network and experience the Israeli artists' milieu.

Lastly, our leaving team members officially passed the torch to their new counterparts, and we said farewell to those leaving and welcomed our new staff members. A simple evening with a great vibe.
