Vibha Galhotra (b.1978, India)

Born in 1978, Vibha Galhotra received received her B.F.A from Government College of Arts, Chandigarh and her masters from Kala-Bhavan, Santiniketan. She works with a variety of media, ranging from print-making to painting, animation videos and site-specific installations. Galhotra's work frequently addresses issues of urbanization, exploring the various relationships between city and citizen. Often, the human figure seamlessly blends into wider cityscapes, almost as if the city was an engulfing protagonist.

Her Solo shows include 'Intruder' Indigo Blue Art Gallery,Singapore in 2010; 'Metropia' Project 88, Mumbai in 2008;She has also participated in many group shows at Essl Museum in Austria in 2010; Art Basel, Miami, Jack Shainman Gallery, USA in 2010;'By George' Alliance Francaise New Delhi in 2009;'India Xianzai' Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai in 2009;'Space Invaders' Group show at Aicon Art gallery, London in 2009;'Mutant Beauty' Anant Art Gallery, New Delhi in 2008; 'Zeitgeist' Pallete Art Gallery, New Delhi in 2008.

Galhotra was awarded the Inlaks Foundation Fine Arts Award in 2003 and a National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in 2001. She has also served as a visiting member of the faculty at the National Institute Fashion Technology, New Delhi, and has been conducted several workshops all over the world.

The artist's work is in many private collections in India and abroad such as Gate Foundation, USA, Essel Museum, Austria, Devi Art Foundation,India, Tiroche DeLeon Collection, Gibraltar.

Vibha lives and works in New Delhi.
