Julius Macwan (b.1968, India)

Julius Macwan was born in 1968 in Mumbai. He graduated in Fine Arts (Painting) at the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai in 1992. He lived and worked in Chennai from 1993 to 2004, where he founded his art school, the Julius Macwan Institute. He moved back to Mumbai in 2004.

His solo exhibitions in Chennai were 'Five Easy Pieces' (2000), 'The Horses Mouth' (2000), 'New York Sketches' (2001), and 'Deewana Hai Dil' (2002).His solo exhibitions in Mumbai were 'The Hermit' (2004) with Apparao Galleries, 'The Hierophant-The Hip In Red And Mauve' (2005) and 'J' (2007) with the Ashish Balram Nagpal Galleries.He has also had solo exhibitions in Chandigarh – 'Untitled' (2001), and New Delhi – 'The Antithesis' (2004), with Apparao Galleries.

He has participated in varied curated group shows, and has also published a book in 2007 titled 'J – The Way It Was'.
